Hypnotherapy & Self-Hypnosis.....

"I feel better now after the session and have been able to use the mind space I felt during hypnosis onto other negative energies not involving death.  I feel this has really helped more then just that aspect of my life and I really appreciate that".

What is Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy?

Simply put, hypnosis is a relaxed focused state of concentration, focus and imagination, with belief and expectancy that it is going to work for you.

Hypnotherapy (Clinical Hypnotherapy) is the name of the therapeutic version of Hypnosis whereby suggestions and visualisations are used with you, my client.  You will be asked and guided through a hypnotherapy session using hypnosis to create a state of heightened focus using your imagination and together with the belief and expectancy you have that something amazing is going to happen for you during and after the session based on what you have come into the session for. By working with your subconscious mind, hypnosis is a powerful way to access the source of distress (including depression and anxiety) that you are experiencing and for you to be able to reconnect with dissociated emotions and disowned parts of yourself.

Hypnotherapy helps both me, as your hypnotherapist, and yourself, to work together to connect and communicate with your subconscious mind and parts of you (even younger selves of you) to discover what is holding you back, what the negative issues are because those parts of you have always been helping you through the positive intentions they have.  Although sometimes we need to let them know that perhaps these positive intentions which were created when you were a child, with their behaviours attached, may now be causing you issues in your adult life and these are the things that we would like to negotiate and come up with some new creative healthier ways for moving forward (inner conflicts).

It is also the relationship and rapport between me and you.

"The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed"

C.J. Jung (This theory places emphasis on the client / therapist relationship).

There are many professional sports people that use hypnosis to enhance their focus and performance as well as other professionals such as politicians that use it for increasing their confidence with public speaking etc.

What can Hypnotherapy be helpful for?

Hypnotherapy has been proven to work with:

Content Free Hypnosis - Emotional Detox Technique

The Emotional Detox Technique (developed by Karl Smith) is a great technique to use and has proven to be a successful hypnotherapy technique to  help to process negative or uncomfortable feelings, images, thoughts, emotions and sensations and stress from your body in a content free perspective.

Does Hypnotherapy and Self-Hypnosis Work for Everyone?

As long as you can use your powerful imagination to heighten your focus to what you are listening to, you believe what is happening and have an expectancy that it is going to work for you, there is no reason why you cannot benefit from self-hypnosis. It is about you being fully open to wanting to be ready to give hypnotherapy/hypnosis a go.

What Is The Hypnotic Trance?

There is no such thing as a hypnotic trance, you are simply in a state of heightened focus, belief and expectancy through using the power of your imagination. It is a natural state of mind that you do everyday when you are perhaps day dreaming, enjoying a movie or a book and even driving.  Have you ever asked yourself “how did I get here?” when driving. Because sometimes you will forget the journey itself because you may have been fully engrossed in listening to the radio and on autopilot with your driving especially if you are driving to the same place you always go to.

What Happens if I Don't Notice Any Immediate Effects:

It is worth noting that there some individuals who need more processing time – this is often recognised as being called “delayed hypnosis”.  You may be one of these individuals and you may be thinking that you are not seeing your unwanted habits disappearing instantly.  I want to let you know that all the suggestions that have been taken in by your subconscious can sometimes take time to be absorbed and to become noticeable in a few days or week.

On the other hand some individuals, like yourself, will notice improvements immediately.

For example, if your aim is to release weight then you will notice the effectiveness once you start to eat healthily or exercise more (f this is what the recording and cause of the weight problem is).

“...Every idea we have in our minds becomes true for us and has a tendency to transform itself into action” - Emile Coulé

Is It Safe to Use Hypnotherapy and Self-Hypnosis Whilst Pregnant?

Yes, regular deep relaxation recordings can help you and your baby during pregnancy. There is even hypno-birthing that can help you.

Is It Safe to Use Hypnotherapy and Self-Hypnosis for Pain?

Yes, regular deep relaxation recordings can help you bring down the intensity of your pain and help you to manage it. By using such techniques as the Control Room within the hypnotherapy session it can help to bring down (with permission from your subconscious mind) the levels of anticipatory pain you are experiencing to a level that is safe for you.  Or to allow you to take that pain out through Kinetic Shift because it may be linked to trapped emotions you are holding onto within it.

Important Information to Consider:

Hypnotherapy and self-hypnosis may not be suitable for some individuals because they may not be able to follow the hypnotic process or comprehend what the hypnotherapy and self-hypnosis recording is saying.  Therefore here is a list of the following contraindications (as they are called):

  • Very young children – under aged 5
  • Anyone who is under the influence of drugs or alcohol or has an addiction to either one of them
  • Anyone that has been diagnosed with dementia
  • Anyone who has been diagnosed with any psychotic disorders
  • Anyone who has difficulty following along with the hypnotherapy or self-hypnosis instructions from a comprehension point of view (learning difficulties).

However, there is a caveat to the above.  I am willing to provide hypnotherapy to anyone as long as I have permission or medical consent from your psychiatrist, GP or medical professional before starting any hypnosis to ensure that it is safe for you to have hypnotherapy.

Difference Between Hypnosis and Guided Meditation:

Hypnosis has a tendency to be able to offer immediate results and focuses on tapping into your subconscious mind to reach a specific goal. Meditation aims to improve present-moment and self-awareness. Meditation often requires consistent practice and dedication before you start to notice any changes in behaviour.

Important Information to Consider with Self-Hypnosis

When it comes to listening to a self-hypnosis recording, please can I kindly ask you, not listen to any of the self-hypnosis recordings whilst you are driving or operating anything that needs your full attention because that would be unsafe for you.  You deserve to give yourself permission to gift yourself self-care to be able to listen to this self-hypnosis recording to help you to move forward to be able to make the changes that you need to make……

All I ask is for you to give all self-hypnosis recordings your full attention and focus.  To find yourself a place that feels safe and quiet for yourself that allows you to be not disturbed for at least half an hour. To give yourself that self-care and time listen to this recording that is going to de-stress and benefit you.

How Do Self-Hypnosis Recordings Work?  Is It Safe?

All the self-hypnosis recordings are facilitated by myself, Mandy Jane, however, you are in control during the whole process whilst you are listening to the recording.  You have already had control by giving yourself permission and choice to listen to my voice within this self-hypnosis recording and therefore there is part of you that really wants to be involved. Hypnosis is actually an active process where I kindly ask you to play an active part in what is happening every step of the process because it is all about you and you already have all the resources within you it’s just that sometimes those parts of you can do their roles too well. Simple verbal instructions are given along the way for you to follow to help you to relax and you are asked to respond positively to any of the hypnotic suggestions and techniques I may use and you hear that are relevant to the issue you are wanting to work on. Everything is done with your permission and co-operation at every stage during the hypnosis process.

Having relaxing inductions and deepeners are not always necessary for hypnosis, however, we use them to aid in helping you to relax more to help yourself during the process. And as you may know the more you can help yourself relax, the more you can de-stress yourself and clear your mind more to be able to help yourself to learn new resources, to trust the process of hypnotherapy and hypnosis for your own health, well-being and moving forward.

Is There a Limit to the Amount of Self-Hypnosis Recording Sessions I Should Use Per Day?

It is recommended that you listen to a recording only to a maximum of twice a day, perhaps once in the morning and once in the evening.  It is worth remembering that with you having full focus to what the recording is doing for you, belief in what your powerful imagination and subconscious is being asked to do and the expectancy that it is going to work for you in a positive way then there is no need to keep re-listening to the recording.  However, if you feel that you do need to keep re-listening to it to build up your belief and expectancy because you are new to self-hypnosis and need to see the evidence of it working then please continue listening to it for up to 30 days.
